IRM Membership Criteria
IRM Member
These faculty have provided evidence of scholarship in stem cell or regenerative biology, and have committed themselves to advance the mission of the IRM. To accomplish that mission, Members are expected to participate regularly in IRM scholarly activities, such as teaching, seminars, journal clubs and interdisciplinary symposia. Members may be asked to serve on Ad hoc committees formed to advise the IRM Executive committee. A key mission of the IRM is to encourage and advance lay education, public discourse and debate. Thus, Members are encouraged to contribute once yearly to public outreach activities, and should make themselves available to the media if and as necessary to represent their specialty within regenerative medicine or stem cell biology. We encourage Members to feature their IRM affiliation in their scholarly publications. Penn faculty Members will also receive preferential and discounted service when using IRM Core Facilities. Membership at this level will be reviewed annually by the Executive Committee. Members who demonstrate significant contributions towards advancing the missions of the IRM through research, education and/or public outreach will be designated Senior Members by vote of the Executive Committee.
IRM Scholar
Students and postdoctoral fellows who have a keen interest in regenerative medicine or stem cell biology are strongly encouraged to join as IRM Scholars. It is the discoveries of IRM Scholars that will drive this field. IRM Scholars will be expected to actively engage in the scholarly, educational and / or policy arm of the IRM. As IRM Scholars, you will have ample opportunity to meet and speak with invited guests of the IRM.
IRM Friend
Faculty from other institutions or members of the lay public who wish to keep informed about the issues of the day surrounding regenerative approaches in biomedicine should join as IRM Friends. You will receive announcements of IRM-sponsored events, including educational outreach initiatives, and public policy and media events. Faculty from other institutions may be invited to participate in IRM-sponsored events.
To join, complete the membership application and email it along with your NIH biosketch to: IRMed@pobox.upenn.edu
All membership applications will be reviewed by the IRM Executive Committee before final approval.
